Goldilocks

She was wondering if it was still running away if  you were nineteen. She wouldn’t have been able to handle her step father anyways. He was so mean to her and her mother; but it was her mother’s choice to stay with him. So she didn’t know where to go next. She had a little pink dress with stripes on and she wore little brown ankle boots; her long blond hair looked perfect as usual. She had it in long tight curls that hung down to the middle of her back. Keeping herself pretty was the only thing Jane could ever really control, so she always took extra time. She would go shopping for hours, schedule regular appointments for her nails, eyebrows, hair and tanning. She was also very careful about what she ate. They never required her at the dinner table anyways. She had no real plan for her life. She had graduated from High School…No one ever asked anymore from Jane. She always had plenty of money because her father sent her checks every month. She had lived with her mother because she had been given custody over Jane, but now that she was older she was able to go where she wanted to. She decided to go and try living with her father. She waited at the airport with her huge pink carry on. She was a little worried about her three big suitcases, because she wanted to have all her clothes. When she finally arrived in Boston she was picked up by her father. This was slightly awkward because she hadn’t seen him in over a year. They found all of her bags safely. Then he drove her “home.” She had never been to his house and was surprised to see how big it was.  Its was too big just for one person she thought. She walked into the kitchen, leaving her luggage in the car. She was only half surprised to see two middle aged men sitting at the table with cups of coffee. “These are my roommates, Jorge and Philip” her father said. Jane’s heart sank, She could already tell that living with these men would be no cleaner or quieter than living in a cave of bears. Her prediction was confirmed when she looked over at the sink; spilling over with dirty dishes.
