Micro-Fiction Writing Assignment

Choose a micro-fiction story that stirs you, that you enjoy, that sticks with you.

Write about what makes this story tick, focusing on Andrew Stanton’s “Clues to a Great Story.”  You might choose a few of his guidelines that you see at work in the story, or you might see that the story does the exact opposite of his ideas.  Either way is fine.  You need not address all of the clues to a great story.  Be selective.  Tackle two or three?

Formalities:

• typed, double-spaced
• 400-500 words
• include/cite details from the story
• use paragraphing and good grammar
• proof-read & polished

This assignment is to be a reflection and exploration of the story, not necessarily a thesis paper.  

It might start as a ramble/free-write, but do please clean it up before submitting it.
