Sleeping Beauty (2 stories)

There are a lot of similarities between the Grim version of Sleeping Beauty and the one that I read. The Brother’s Grim version isn’t called Sleeping beauty, but its called Briar Rose; because Briar Rose is supposed to be her name in it. They also say that the spell was cast on her so that she would prick her finger when she was 15 but in most more modern versions, including the one that I found she is 16 when she pricks her finger. Grim’s doesn’t have the fairy say that the baby is going die. The king also simply didn’t want invite the evil women to the feast. In the version that I found it said that she originally had cursed the baby to be killed but said that she would only have to sleep after she saw how upset the King and Queen were. It also says that he made the mistake of forgetting to invite the evil fairy. In both of them the princess is blessed by the other fairies so that she will grow up to be smart and strong. Yet it seems that either she wasn’t told that she was cursed or she isn’t very smart, because she feel for the old Woman’s trick. She obviously didn’t feel anything wrong or dangerous about talking to an old women that she had never met before. In other stories; neither of theses, it says that it was on her birthday that she pricks her finger. In the other story it didn’t give a name for her.In both of them there is no reason for why nobody could go into the castle before the prince tried. It seemed that in the second one nothing had changed inside of the castle.
When she pricks her finger in the Grim’s version it is inside her own castle but in the other one she is in the woods by herself. It makes the reader wonder why she was alone in the woods and how she could possibly feel comfortable talking to someone she had never met in there.
